This lovely Crispy Potato Smash recipe will have the whole family licking their lips for more!


  • 1kg potatoes of your choice (I used red potatoes)
  • 80 g / Butter
  • 200g Shredded Tasty Cheese
  • Salt and pepper


  1. Add potatoes to a pot of water and cook until soft, 20 – 25 minutes.
  2. Drain potatoes in a colander then add to a baking dish. With a metal spoon press on the centre of the potato to squash it, lightly breaking it apart. Potatoes will be hot so please be careful, you can use a cloth towel ontop of the spoon as protection.

  3. Once Potatoes are broken apart add salt and pepper and butter. (for best result I slice butter thinly and layer it on top, as potatoes are still hot the butter will begin to melt. Add shredded cheese on top then bake in a preheated oven at 180C.
  4. Bake until golden brown and crispy. between 30 – 40 minutes.
