This thin base pizza dough recipe is enough to make 3 pizza’s with left overs for the kids to make dough animals or men and women.
INGREDIENTS
- one 7g sachet dried yeast
- 1 and a 1/2 cups warm water – I use boiled kettle water, must let cool
- half a teaspoon of caster sugar
- 4 cups high protein plain flour, plus extra for dusting
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup olive oil
DIRECTIONS
- boil water in kettle and place 1 and 1/2 cups of water in a bowl, let cool to lukewarm. place half a teaspoon of caster sugar (you can substitute for normal sugar) stir, let settle, empty yeast contents in water and put aside for 5 minutes, or until foamy.
- Combine the flour and salt in a large bowl and make a well in the centre. Add the yeast mixture and the oil. Use a blunt kitchen knife/butter knife in a cutting motion to mix until the mixture is combined. once combined use your hands to form a large ball.
- tip dough onto a lightly floured work station and knead until smooth and stretchy. place into a lightly oiled bowl, cover with cling wrap and set aside to rise (roughly double in size)
- remove dough from bowl, place onto a lightly dusted surface and knead dough for 30 seconds. Break a first size chunk apart and with a rolling pin roll into a half centimeter thick base. place in Pizza tray cut off excess dough and return to remaining dough. set aside a repeat this step for the next two pizza bases.
- With left over dough allow kids to make their own little baking figurines or men/women to keep them occupied during preparing dinner time. Or use to make garlic bread.
- Add your desired toppings and bake on bottom tray in oven at 250 degrees celsius for 8 – 10 minutes or until cheese is browned. (excess cheese may lead to soggy pizza bases)
