Lunch Time Options – Mini Pizzas!

Lunch time options mini pizzas

Trying to find lunch time options while working from home in lockdown can be hard and eventually the old faithful toasty gets an over run. So why not mix it up with mini pizzas?

It’s a great way to continue to enjoy the old staples of ham, cheese and tomato alternating sliced tomato for paste. You can get creative and unlock a larger range of tasty lunch time options that the whole family will enjoy!

mini pizza bases

I use Nevana premade pizza bases as it saves time and Little Miss 3 loves to make her own. It helps keeping her entertained for a few minutes providing much needed respite in a lockdown family home. It’s also a great way to get LIl Miss 3 to try new veggies that she normally wouldn’t. Although as all parents know Ham and Cheese continues to be the superior topping.

You can find Nevana pizza bases at your local supermarket but don’t be afraid to try other brands some even make thin based or even gluten free.

lunch time options

I won’t add a recipe as such to this meal as it is more for inspiring you to try alternatives to lunch. We have a few favorites that we like to use which I will outline below.

I have learned to put the cheese on after spreading the tomato paste as this helps the cheese melt and secure all the other ingredients.

Pizza Base Options

For extra flavour I add some crushed garlic to the base (sprinkled over the tomato paste spread.

  1. Ham and Mozzarella cheese with a sprinkle of oregano
  2. Mozzarella cheese and a few baby bocconcini and a few basil leaves
  3. Ham, Mozzarella, Mushroom and cubed bacon with a sprinkle of oregano
  4. Mild Hungarian Salami, Mozzarella and red capsicum can sprinkle oregano but if you like it hot swap out mild salami for hot and sprinkle chilli flakes.

Depending on what you add to your pizza bases will impact the nutritional information.

Pizza should be administered safely and under parent or guardian supervision. Due to the high calories it is not advised to eat pizza every day as a means to hide calories as calories do not count for pizza because pizza is awesome!
